The Guggenheim Grotto – Wisdom
Wow this song! The rest of their early stuff is meh. They renamed the group to “Storyman” and a couple of the new songs are ok, but Wisdom is amazing.

Although a “best of” is not exactly best, I love the steampunky victorian look. They are in a unique place where the best of can be from ’00 to ’10.
Go immediately and listen to Strangeways Radio. This is what “alternative” was when I was barely filling in my shoes. Almost half of my CD collection matches their library.
Here are some of the songs I was not familiar with yet really appreciated:
Gary Numan – Dark
Peter Murphy – I’ll Fall With Your Knife
Secession – Love Lies Bleeding
Courteeners – The Opener
Babble – Hold the sky
Ofra Haza – Show Me
Paper route – Carousel
Plastic Bertrand – Ca Plane Pour Moi (This life’s for me)
Ambra Red – ___? Princess
I also frequent Frequence 3 when I want to hear the latest and popular sludge. For example I was sick of Dragonettes “Hello” months before I heard it in the states. I like being able to vote for the eurodance and against the rap!
Both stations share the same curse: you cannot downvote the cheesy Show hour stuff. I want my radio to play actual music!
New Röyksopp = Yawn Central. This can’t be true! Easy listening for senior citizens. It’s not Junior’s older brother as reviews claim, more like great grandparent.
Before Owl City, there was Sky Sailing. Actually this moniker fits the style of the music much better. This album has more acoustic feel, smooth and simple lyrics with signature light vocals.
On a side note: Lights has an acoustic EP out now. How long until the two of them get together? I’d pay lots and lots.
Wow, JotDog has improved by leaps and bounds in the past few months! Did they sign a big label? I need to go back into the heart of Mexico very soon!
No group has stuck with me from the past like Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. When I reach retro, I reach for OMD. From the three sample tracks floating around the web, this one is on the edge. Can they pull off a comeback project like DEVO or A-Ha (Foot of the Mountain) have done? Can’t wait to see how it turns out!
